Notorious medicine baron will get ripped in jail because of cell sit-ups and protein weight loss plan

Jon Moorby, known as Teesside’s ‘Mr Big’, claims he has reached 6% body fat while serving a 29-year sentence at Durham’s Frankland prison through strict diet and daily fitness regime

A notorious drug lord has flaunted his trimmest physique yet over the Christmas period. Jon Moorby claims he’s reached peak fitness at 55 – all while incarcerated in Durham’s Frankland prison.

Thanks to a rigorous diet and exercise regime, the 5ft 9ins Stockton drug trafficker says he’s whittled down to just 6% body fat. Moorby is serving a 29-year sentence for conspiracy to supply class A drugs, including trafficking cocaine and amphetamine.

He’s classified as a category A prisoner – living under the same stringent conditions as terrorist inmates. His request to be downgraded to a medium-risk prisoner was rejected last year. Authorities reportedly placed Moorby in the highest risk category due to his extensive network of serious criminal contacts.

His past involvement with helicopters, used to transport millions of pounds worth of class A drugs from mainland Europe to Kent by Moorby and gangland drug boss Lance Kennedy, is also said to have raised concerns for the prison service.

A childhood friend, who wished to remain anonymous, told Teesside Live that the police visited him at home when he completed the paperwork to visit Moorby in prison. The divorced father, who claims he has never had any run-ins with the law, said he was extensively questioned about whether he had access to helicopters, reports Teesside Live.

Teesside’s “Mr Big” escaped to Thailand in 2014, whilst awaiting trial after a massive cocaine stash was discovered at his Ingleby Barwick property.

He operated a drug-dealing empire from overseas which resulted in Teesside’s streets being “flooded with cocaine”, according to prosecutors.

His associates dispatched £59,000 in earnings from the UK and ignited two blazes at his estranged wife’s residence.

He was nabbed in 2017, and completed two years in a Thai jail, before being extradited back to the UK to complete his 29-year stretch.

Moorby reveals he maintains his daily exercise regimen in his cell, where he has been housed alone, and in the prison gymnasium.

“I train every day for two-and-a-half to three hours” the drugs kingpin confirmed to Teesside Live – explaining he can use the prison gym every other day.

He puts himself through 10km on the treadmill during each session; before focusing on chest, shoulder and back pull-ups and dips.

The drugs baron claims he lifts 120kg during chest presses and 37kg on each side, for shoulder presses.

For the days where he is restricted to his cell, the narcotics chief takes immense pride in his self-control.

He rises at 5am and completes 2,000 press ups; before progressing to squats and sit-ups. Moorby’s elderly parents send him money each week, which he uses to fund his protein powder and other food.

He eats exactly the same thing every single day and does not snack at all.

In addition to the three meals below, the drugs lord relies on three black coffees and gets through four litres of water a day.

Breakfast: Oats made with water and chocolate protein powder. No sugar.

Dinner: Two baked chicken thighs, sweetcorn and salad.

Tea: Rump steak with salad.

The drugs trafficker says he is motivated by a desire to return to kick boxing, when he is out of prison.

Under the 40% scheme, he has been notified that he will be released in June 2028, on home curfew.

Teesside’s “Mr Big” would have served nine years, but the calculation incorporates the two years he spent in prison in Thailand.

He says he will take money to fight in the ring, and that Teessiders will pay, “hoping to see me getting smashed”.

He plans to donate any cash made to prisoners in the Koh Samui prison, in Thailand – where he initially served time.

He plans to use the money to fund food and clean water for the inmates, who he says provided him with emotional support while he endured some of the toughest jail conditions known.

The hellish conditions in the Thai jail reportedly see up to 24 prisoners held in a cell for over 12 hours a day. Moorby plans to steer clear of his hometown, Stockton, upon his release – he’s certain the police will be eager “to pin anything they can” on him, and he’s resolute in his decision never to return to prisons.
