Adam Peaty’s ‘sit on the again’ marriage ceremony message to dad would not go down properly
Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty married Holly Ramsay at Bath Abbey on Saturday, with almost all of his family members not present for the star-studded ceremony in Somerset
Adam Peaty made a dubious peace gesture to his father ahead of his wedding ceremony. The swimmer reportedly told Mark that he was welcome to join the festivities but “would have to sit at the back” of the church.
More than 200 friends and family gathered at Bath Abbey, Somerset, to watch Peaty and Holly Ramsay tie the knot amid the widely reported feud between the Olympian and his relatives. Most of Adam’s immediate family were excluded from the wedding, with only his sister, Bethany, allowed to be present.
His heartbroken mother, Caroline, revealed the evening before the ceremony that she felt the happy pair had ‘cut her heart out’. Despite this, it did not stop Adam and Holly from saying their vows in front of a star-studded congregation, including Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham, accompanied by three of their children – Cruz, Harper and Romeo.
After the service, the newlyweds left the church around 1.30pm to the joyful sound of the abbey bells. They went to their reception at Kin House, a Georgian manor house located 17 miles away, near Chippenham.
Yet, while the venue was filled with famous faces, practically all of Adam’s family members were notably missing. New details have now surfaced, claiming that his father did receive an invitation to the wedding.
A family source said to The Sun: “Frankly, it’s disgusting that it went ahead without Adam reaching out to his mum and dad beforehand.” The family was further heartbroken by allegations that Adam’s father, Mark, was told by his daughter, Beth, before Christmas that he could attend the wedding, but would have to sit at the back.
The source shared: “It was a difficult day for Caroline and Mark, so the family spent the evening together. Caroline got upset as soon as she saw the photographs from the wedding.
“For him to turn around and tell Beth that his dad could come and sit at the back of the church is awful. Mark was told he could sit behind plus-ones – who Adam has probably never even seen or spoken to.”
The Peaty family feud dates back to September 2024, when Adam and Holly did not invite wider family members to their engagement party. Caroline was also left out of Holly’s extravagant hen do at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds last month, despite invitations for the bride’s mother, Tana Ramsay, and friends, including Victoria Beckham. Despite this, Caroline sent a card and a gift to her newlywed son for his 31st birthday today.
In stark contrast, Holly’s father, Gordon Ramsay, played a significant role in the big day. The famous chef expressed that he “couldn’t be a prouder dad” as he walked his model daughter, Holly, down the aisle to marry the Olympic swimmer.
The bridesmaids, including Peaty’s sister Bethany and Holly’s two sisters, were snapped outside the church in festive red silk gowns. Before the Saturday ceremony, Caroline spoke to the Daily Mail about a reported dispute following her exclusion from Holly’s hen party.
In the unpaid interview, she shared her pain, stating: “I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me; it’s as if they have cut my heart out. This is the first Christmas that I’ve not had my family together – my family is broken.”
Reach PLC has contacted Adam Peaty’s representative for a response.
Ahead of the wedding, celebrity chef Ramsay, 59, posted on Instagram: “I’m truly so lucky being able to walk this beautiful bride down the aisle and gaining an incredible son-in-law @adam_peaty! I love you so much @hollyramsayy and couldn’t be a prouder Dad xxx.”
Ramsay is a father to six children, including Holly’s sisters, Tilly, 24, and Megan, 27, who were bridesmaids at the wedding, and sons Jack, 25, Oscar, 6, and Jesse, 2. Peaty met his new wife through her sister, Tilly, while they both participated in Strictly Come Dancing in 2021.
