Man Utd hero wooed lingerie mannequin turned MUTV host after membership channel interview

A Manchester United hero once wooed a lingerie model turned MUTV host after she dazzled him with her jaw-dropping looks during an interview

A Manchester United hero once wooed a lingerie model turned MUTV host after a cheeky interview.

Johnny Evans, who is celebrating his 38th birthday on January 3, met his wife, Helen McConnell after an interview for the Red Devils’ in-house media team. The blonde beauty’s jaw-dropping looks weren’t just noticed by Evans, with Helen also working as a model.

Even when picking up a microphone, the stunner was still on the books of Belfast model agency Style Academy. “Helen is a very popular, bubbly, sporty girl, who joined our books when she was a Sunday Life cover girl finalist in 2004,” Tracey Hall said.

“Although she’s not tall enough for catwalk, she is a very popular choice for photographic work because she has a great face.

“She fronted one of Victoria Square’s early spring/summer fashion campaigns for billboards, modelling everything from maxi dresses to lingerie to swimwear.

“She’s still on our books but has obviously been very busy recently. Though, after the wedding, I’m expecting a flurry of bookings for her.”

Helen had left Belfast with her close friend and fellow model Julie Doherty to move to Manchester, before landing her dream job with MUTV.

Her bio on their website once read: “Rather than being forced into loving football and Manchester United, it came naturally to her and so from a young age Manchester United was the only team Helen knew anything about.”

The pair tied the knot in 2013, during a star-studded wedding in Northern Ireland.

However, in 2015, Evans would leave the Red Devils for West Brom, with Helen staying put as part of the media team.

It seemed his story in the red half of Manchester was done until a shock return in 2023, under Erik ten Hag.

Evans would leave for a second time in 2025, hanging up his boots for good, after securing his place in the affections of United fans forever.

On social media, Helen said: “12 years later, 8 year break in the middle and 3 kids added to the squad… over and out OT Best fans in the world.”
