Putin’s nukes may ‘wipe out’ Royal Navy as fears of all-out WW3 rise
With fears of a full-blown conflict taking place between Russia and the West, one expert says Putin’s latest fleet of missiles poses a “very real threat” to Britain’s navy
Britain’s Royal Navy fleet could be entirely destroyed by one of Mad Vlad Putin’s new missiles. One expert has said that the strength of the warheads could be so great that they could “wipe out” several ships, posing a “very real threat” to the UK.
Russia has been ramping up production of its mysterious Oreshnik missiles for the past year after they were first used in strikes against Ukraine in 2024. Now, with Russia starting to stockpile arms, it is clear the Kremlin is gearing itself up for a huge fight.
Now, one ex-navy chief has said that Putin’s artillery should not be underestimated, admitting it could do real damage to our troops. It comes as Russia continues to hit targets deep inside Ukraine during its brutal war on Kyiv.
Aside from its chilling Oreshnik missiles, Moscow is said to be racking up a slew of Zircon missiles, with roughly 40 missiles reported to be held by the Kremlin, according to the Sun. Zircon missiles can strike up to 600 miles away and are nuclear-capable, meaning they could be fitted with nuclear explosives.
These missiles are also able to be fired from submarines and warships, meaning they could be fired at Britain’s Navy. The strength of the explosions could completely destroy Britain’s various aircraft carriers and frigates, according to the assessment of ex-naval staff chief Lord West.
In a statement given to the press, Lord West said that these Zircon missiles pose “a very real threat and a genuine concern to those who want to maintain our defence”. Sources deep within the Ministry of Defence have admitted that even when flying, they could pack a punch.
Insiders said that the speed at which the Zircon missile can travel is so fast that even if a warhead made out of just stone were placed in the missile, it could still sink a ship. It comes as more information about the lesser-known missile is made public.
MPs both within the government and the opposition have also expressed their concern at just how much damage Moscow’s drones could do to the Navy. Labour MP Graeme Downie called on ministers to be full and frank about how the Russian artillery could impact Britain’s defence capabilities.
In response, Armed Forces minister and SBS veteran Al Carns said: “His Majesty’s Government announced up to £1billion of investment for Integrated Air and Missile Defence in the Strategic Defence Review. This is part of a comprehensive and integrated approach to deterring and defending against the range of strategic threats we face.”
It comes as London is now within reach of Moscow’s missiles if a full-on war was to erupt, causing World War 3. Oreshnik missiles were deployed to the Russian puppet state of Belarus, but if launched, they could reach London in just 8 minutes, causing immense damage to the city.
