King’s disgraced brother Andrew nonetheless ‘residing lifetime of luxurious’ as he is set to maneuver into mansion

Prince Andrew is being forced to give up the lease of his 30-room mansion Royal Lodge and is set to move to the King’s private Sandringham estate before Easter, but what else could be in store for the former Duke of York in 2026?

The start of a fresh year typically brings transformation – and it seems Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor faces considerable upheaval ahead.

The disgraced former Duke of York has been compelled to surrender the lease on his sprawling 30-room residence at Royal Lodge, following fresh disclosures regarding his connections to billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

He’s expected to relocate to the King’s private Sandringham estate – with reports suggesting the transition will occur before Easter, when the Royal Family traditionally gathers at Windsor Castle.

Sources indicate Andrew will take up residence at Marsh Farm, a property within the Norfolk estate that’s currently being refurbished for his arrival. Nevertheless, several Royal experts have suggested the Sandringham relocation might only be temporary. They’ve argued that Andrew may struggle to adapt to rural Norfolk life and could potentially flee the country to establish a fresh existence in the Middle East.

Yet former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond remains sceptical about an overseas future for the fallen prince – particularly considering what awaits him at his new residence, reports the Mirror.

She told the Mirror: “Andrew certainly does seem to have friends in high places in the Middle East and his life there wouldn’t be short on luxury.

“But it could also be very lonely. Andrew does still have his family, including his grandchildren, so I think it’s unlikely that he would want to move abroad permanently.

“Being ‘banished’ to Sandringham doesn’t seem like such a hard life: he’ll be provided with a house, likely some staff, security and a leisurely lifestyle in a stunning part of the country.

“It would probably be easier for the rest of the Royal family if Andrew vanished off to somewhere like the Middle East – especially as the Epstein revelations continue to seep out.

“But I think they feel they have done all they can to distance themselves from Andrew and the problem.”

In late October, the King officially stripped his scandal-ridden brother Andrew of his HRH style and prince title, and erased his dukedom from the Roll of the Peerage due to his “serious lapses” in judgement.

This action came on the heels of the publication of a posthumous memoir by Andrew’s accuser, Virginia Giuffre, and the US government’s release of documents from Epstein’s estate.

It was revealed that Andrew had sent an email to Epstein in 2011 stating “we’re in this together”, three months after he claimed to have severed all ties with the convicted sex offender. Andrew has denied any wrongdoing.

It’s thought that later this year, both the King and Prince William could be making a trip to the United States, where the investigation into Epstein, who passed away in 2019, is still underway.

Jennie emphasises that careful planning would be implemented to ensure the Epstein scandal doesn’t overshadow any visits.

She added: “I don’t imagine the Epstein scandal will be too much of an issue on any visit to the United States unless there are further revelations which coincide with the visit. These things are all about diplomacy, and every care will be taken to avoid anything controversial.”
