Ruben Dias points livid assertion after being accused of dishonest on Maya Jama

Ruben Dias and Maya Jama ended their relationship a matter of weeks ago, but Dias is still hit with allegations of unfaithfulness towards the Love Island presenter

Ruben Dias has lashed out at “unacceptable” allegations that he cheated on his former girlfriend Maya Jama. The Manchester City defender and the Love Island host were in a relationship for approximately 18 months.

Nevertheless, they went their separate ways several weeks ago in a break up that has frequently made headlines. In his statement, Dias revealed his grandfather has “repeatedly” encountered reports suggesting the City star was unfaithful to Jama.

This became the final straw for the £65million defender, who turned to social media and slammed any insinuation that he had been disloyal to the British TV personality.

He wrote: “I feel that when my 85-year-old grandad is asking me if I’ve cheated on my girlfriend, because he’s seen it repeatedly on the news, that’s where I draw the line on what’s acceptable and what’s not.

“Maya and I have always had a relationship built on mutual respect. No line was ever crossed in that regard.

“A lie told often enough can start to feel like the truth and for that reason I tell you that I didn’t cheat, nor did I ever have the intention or temptation to. I believe Maya deserves all the respect in the world.

“The reasons why we broke up are private and belong to us and we’ve both dealt with it in a very mature way. I’ve always chosen to remain silent on these matters as my personal life is my business only.

“But I also believe it’s wrong to lie to people and to portray an opposite image of someone just for clickbait. Respect me, respect Maya, and understand that not always one has to betray the other in order for a relationship to end.”

It’s widely understood they first crossed paths at the MTV European Music Awards in Manchester towards the end of 2024. After being together for roughly 18 months, numerous fans spotted that both had wiped any snaps of them as a couple from their social media accounts.

At that point, an insider, thought to be someone close to the duo, revealed to the Sun the couple had reached a “crossroads”. They explained: “Maya and Ruben had a wonderful time together and there’s still a lot of love and respect between them.
