Amad Diallo labelled Manchester United’s defeat to Atletico Madrid as a “f****** disgrace”. The Red Devils winger couldn’t contain his fury after the 2-0 defeat in the Champions League.

The 24-year-old’s remarks were part of a post on his verified Snapchat account, recognised as a Snap Star by the star symbol next to his profile name. He then added: “I have no words.” The Ivory Coast ace began the match in Madrid on the bench and was brought on during the second half to replace Marcus Rashford, but United’s evening soon went from bad to worse.

Less than 10 minutes after his introduction, United saw Leny Yoro sent off. They were already trailing 1-0 at this point, before Ademola Lookman doubled Atletico’s lead and ended any hopes of United salvaging something from the game. And Amad wasn’t the only player unable to hold back following the final whistle.

United defender Lisandro Martinez expressed his frustration in a post-match interview, when he atatcked the club’s hierarchy including technical director Jason Wilcox over the summer transfer window at Old Trafford, reports the Manchester Evening News.

He said: “I have to control myself a lot. But sometimes it’s a reflection of how our club is at the moment, you know?

“We ]had] a fantastic season last season, and now we expect more from the top, from above, you know, to bring more players to compete, because many, many teams bring many players in as well, and today also, Atletico have an amazing team, and they deserved to win today.”

Martinez reiterated: “I expected more, honestly. I expected more.”

He then turned his attention to director of football Jason Wilcox.

“I expected more from our technical director,” Martinez said of Wilcox. “I have to be honest, you know? And also, as players, we have to do more, but it’s also important when you make a strong squad to be ready for these kinds of nights.”

The fuming Argentinian star said: “In general. I think last season we did everything; we created a base to build an amazing team. But this is something to be honest and to prove something, you know?”.

“Yeah, it’s annoying, disappointing, to come here and not see my team trying to get an amazing result here. It’s disappointing.”

When questioned about Michael Carrick, Martinez added: “He does his best. But every season is different. You cannot say what you did last season.

“The teams know how you play, the teams know every detail, you know? And if you don’t change, next season is a big problem. You cannot keep changing managers. What about other areas? I can’t say more.”

When asked in his post-match press conference about Martinez’s comments, Carrick responded: “I need to find out a bit more about it before I can say if and what is going to be done. I really can’t comment any further because I haven’t seen it.”
