A neo-Nazi jailed for life after planning to assassinate an ex-MP was reportedly left screaming in agony and scarred for life in a savage assault at the notorious prison HMP Wakefield, nicknamed ‘Monster Mansion’.
The attack with a makeshift ‘shank’ followed the murder of Lostprophets paedo Ian Watkins at the same jail just months earlier.
White supremacist Jack Renshaw, 30, was allegedly “striped” across his face with a blade by a fellow inmate. A source told The Sun that Renshaw “was lucky to survive” with “a gaping wound running the length of his face”.
The right-wing extremist was allegedly targeted outside his cell for his views. Renshaw gave a Nazi salute in court after being sentenced to life behind bars and ordered to serve at least 20 years for planning to kill ex-Labour MP Rosie Cooper with a 19-inch knife.
“This was a vicious and pre-planned attack and Renshaw was lucky to survive,” a source told The Sun.
“He was slashed with a makeshift ‘shank’ knife and left with a gaping wound running the length of his face.
“There was blood everywhere. Guards rushed to the scene and stopped it being worse than it was — but it was already pretty bad.”
Renshaw’s trial heard that he wanted to “replicate” the murder Labour politician Jo Cox in 2016. But Robbie Mullen, a former member of the right-wing National Action group, revealed his plans after hearing him announce them in a pub.
Renshaw, from Skelmersdale in Lancashire, is also a convicted paedophile, jailed in June for 16 months for grooming two underage boys online.
Jurors at Preston Crown Court found him guilty of four counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. In a desperate attempt to avoid being exposed as a paedo, he threatened to kill police officer Victoria Henderson. He also landed a three-year prison sentence for stirring up racial hatred by calling for the genocide of Jewish people.
Paedo rocker Watkins, 48, was stabbed in the neck and killed in HMP Wakefield on October 11, two months before the assault on Renshaw.
Inmates Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, have appeared in court charged with the Lostprophets singer’s murder. The former rockstar, 48, had been jailed for 29 years in 2013 for offences including abusing babies.
Watkins was held in a “general population” wing rather than a section for sex offenders. After his death, the reportedly feared “copycat” attacks on other inmates.
