Teen dies after incident at Durham sixth kind school as emergency crews swarm

A teenage student has tragically died following an incident at a sixth form college. Emergency crews rushing to Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington, County Durham.

Police were alerted to the college around 1.30pm on Tuesday (January 13) after concerns were raised about a man’s wellbeing.

An 18-year-old was declared dead at the scene. Durham Police have confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious, with a file to be compiled for the coroner.

The victim’s family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers, reports Yorkshire Live.

Images from the scene captured multiple police cars and an ambulance stationed outside the college yesterday afternoon.

QE announced last night that classes and sporting events were scrapped for today (Wednesday), though a handful of examinations were set to proceed as scheduled.

An email stated: “As you may be aware, an isolated incident occurred at the college on Tuesday, January 13. We are currently working with relevant agencies in relation to this and therefore there will be no lessons or sporting fixtures at the college on Wednesday, January 14.

“The small number of scheduled public examinations will take place as planned. We will provide you with more information as soon as we are able to do so.”

A comprehensive statement from police revealed: “Police were called shortly after 1.30pm on Tuesday, January 13 to reports of concerns for the welfare of a man at the Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, in Darlington.

“Sadly, an 18-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.”

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner. “.
