Experts rule how shut we’re to WW3 with Doomsday Clock replace simply weeks away

An artificial intelligence tool has issued a chilling warning as it reveals how close the globe is to a WW3 with a chilling warning of a ‘New Cold War’ comes weeks before the Doomsday clock is updated

Thanks to our pals Putin, Trump, Kim Jong and Xi Jinping many fear humanity has embarked on the chilling march towards global destruction.

In the search to find out just how close tensions are from reaching boiling point the Daily Star turned to the AI to help us decipher just how far from WW3 we really are. Ominously the artificial intelligence model warned the risk for WW3 had reached historic highs as nuclear treaties expire and numerous “Major Geopolitical Flashpoints” have arisen across the globe.

The intelligence tool added an eerie warning the world had moved into a new era it called an era of “Great Power Politics” as it foretold the globe may already entered a “New Cold War.” The AI’s ominous warning comes only weeks before the doomsday clock – a symbol which represents the estimated likelihood of a human-made global catastrophe – is due to be updated.

The artificial intelligence tool warned: “The Bulletin is scheduled to update the setting on January 27, 2026. Early indicators from analysts suggest that the risk remains at historic highs due to the expiration of nuclear arms control treaties (like New START) and the continued use of AI in military systems.”

It added: “Determining how ‘close’ we are to a global conflict is complex, as it depends on whether you look at symbolic metrics, military data, or diplomatic efforts.”

The intelligence tool pointed to various geopolitical conflicts across the globe as it revealed potential miscalculation could lead to a horrific “direct confrontation between” NATO and Russia. Gemini, Google’s AI tool said: “While ‘World War III’ implies a synchronised global conflict, current risks are driven by several high-intensity regional wars that have the potential to draw in major powers.”

Commenting on Ukraine and Russia the AI tool said: “The conflict in Ukraine continues to be a ‘brutal slog.’ While there are renewed diplomatic efforts, the risk remains that a miscalculation could trigger a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia.”

Pointing to the ongoing tension in the Middle East the tool stated: “Tensions involving Israel, Iran, and various regional groups remain ‘persistently dangerous.’ Escalations here are seen as a top risk for triggering broader international involvement.”

On US-China relations the tool warned: “Interestingly, some experts believe the immediate risk of a ‘hot war’ over Taiwan has stabilised slightly following recent summits between President Trump and President Xi Jinping, though long-term economic and technological competition (the ‘Third Nuclear Era’) is intensifying.”

Alongside these geopolitical flashpoints the AI tool warned humanity had entered a new era of warfare it dubbed a “New Cold War” with new styles of warfare including economic and cyberwarfare.

Google’s Gemini said: “Many experts argue that we are already in a ‘New Cold War’ characterised by Geoeconomic Confrontation. Economic Warfare: Aggressive tariffs and the ‘weaponisation’ of supply chains (especially for critical minerals). ‌

“Cyber & AI: Constant state-sponsored hacking and the use of AI for disinformation, which destabilises countries from within rather than via traditional invasion.”

The intelligence tool summarised the risk of WW3 and said: “The Bottom Line: We are in an era of ‘Great Power Politics,’ where the risk of unintended escalation is very high.

“However, most military scholars suggest that a full-scale World War remains unlikely as long as major powers find the cost of direct conflict- especially nuclear – to be too high to justify.”
