Major police incident after ‘petrol bomb’ thrown by way of window of household residence

Police have swarmed a house in Greater Manchester after reports of a property being targeted in a ‘petrol bomb’ attack.

Greater Manchester Police and fire crews raced to the home on South Terrace in the Redvales area of Bury on Sunday morning (January 18).

A local councillor claims the property belonged to a family, who have been left “shaken” after a suspected petrol bomb was thrown through the window

As reported by to the MEN, local councillor Tamoor Tariq said the property was ‘deliberately targeted’ and the family have ‘lost everything’.

In a statement posted online, he said: “I’m very sorry to share that in the early hours of this morning a house on South Terrace, just off Kendal Drive, was deliberately targeted with a petrol bomb.

“This was an appalling and extremely dangerous act. I can confirm that, thankfully, everyone living in the property is safe, as are the neighbouring family. However, the impact has been devastating. The damage to the home is extensive and the family have lost everything, personal belongings, clothing, electrical items, and irreplaceable memories.

“I have spoken directly with the family affected and their immediate neighbours this morning. They are understandably shaken by what they’ve experienced, but are being supported.”

Greater Manchester Police and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for a comment.
