‘War councils’ already fashioned in Europe as leaders are ‘speaking about methods to win WW3’
As President Trump unsettles NATO with his push to annex Greenland and global tensions rise over Putin’s war in Ukraine, Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán claims European leaders are holding “war councils”
As US President Donald Trump rattles NATO with his aggressive bid to annex Greenland, amid ongoing global tensions such as Russia President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, European leaders are now reportedly holding “war councils”.
Moreover, people in power have been openly discussing how to win a potential World War Three, according to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. During an anti-war rally in Miskolc, Hungary on Saturday (January 17), Orbán warned that Hungary is being “dragged” into the Ukraine conflict against its will. He also criticised the European Union for shifting from a political bloc to a “war council”.
At a “Digital Civic Circle” event, where he emphasised that keeping Hungary out of the escalating Ukraine conflict was the primary goal of his administration, Orbán vowed that Hungary will send neither soldiers nor money to Ukraine.
The 62-year-old right-wing politician said: “The fact is Hungary is being forced and dragged into a war. […] This is what knocks on the door every day and I have to keep that door shut with all my strength every single day.
“Being drawn into a war is a daily danger for Hungary. So the first prerequisite for any grand future plan is to stay out of the war.
“The other thing is that we must not give our money to the Ukrainians. This may sound strict, but if you have no money, you have no grand plan.”
Orbán went on to suggest that other European nations were preparing for WW3 as he said: “I am sitting there among them; 27 prime ministers and heads of states sit around the table when we meet in Europe, and I’m telling you quite firmly that they are going to go to war.
These meetings are no longer political discussions.
“In recent times, they have become war councils where countries larger than ours, Germans, French, and others, talk about how we are going to win, how we are going to defeat the Russians, how we are going to force them to pay reparations, how we are going to make them repay the money we are now giving to the Ukrainians. So these are not children sitting there.
“These are responsible, elected European leaders, and they allocate the money accordingly.” Orbán, who is widely regarded as Putin’s closest ally within the EU, has often been criticised for relying on conspiracy theories to maintain domestic support.
According to independent observers and EU officials, Orbán’s new WW3 claims are reportedly largely considered a political narrative designed for his domestic 2026 re-election campaign.
Moreover, most EU leaders and officials have maintained that meetings are diplomatic sessions focused on defensive support for Ukraine and shoring up European security against Russian aggression, rather than offensive plans for a global war.
