Air Force One makes sharp U-turn whereas heading to Davos as Trump’s flight heads again to Maryland

Air Force One had to turn around back to Joint Base Andrews following what the crew called ‘a minor electrical issue’ on President Donald Trump‘s trip to Davos for the World Economic Forum.

The president boarded Air Force One at 9:18pm.

A pool reporter noted less than an hour into the trip that the lights in the press cabin went out briefly after takeoff but no explanation was offered.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made a joke on the flight about the jet Trump had been gifted by Qatar sounding ‘much better’ right now.

The two Boeing 747-200s that are currently in service date back to 1990 and 1991.

A US government motorcade was seen heading toward the Maryland base on Tuesday night.

The plane is expected to land at Joint Base Andrews at 11pm.

Air Force One just left Joint Base Andrews late on Tuesday night, carrying Trump in a red-eye flight to Switzerland for the World Economic Forum.

The plane is expected to land in Zurich, with Trump then helicoptering to Davos, the mountain town hosting the annual gathering of billionaires.

‘This will be an interesting trip,’ Trump told reporters as he left the White House. ‘I have no idea what´s going to happen, but you are well represented.’

Trump had posted to Truth Social ahead of the flight, writing: ‘America will be well represented in Davos — by me. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!’

The Daily Mail has reached out to the White House for further comment.

This is a developing story.
