Liverpool information: Arne Slot ‘eager curiosity’ in £78m switch swoop on Premier league rivals
Liverpool are reportedly developing keen interest in a Premier League star who is stalling over a new contract at his club as the clock ticks down on the January transfer window
Liverpool have secured their place in the Champions League playoff stages, but their campaign remains finely balanced as they occupy a top-four position in the Premier League.
Arne Slot has found himself under mounting pressure with injuries wreaking havoc on his squad, particularly in central defence, where Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez represent the only recognised senior options and in attack due to the long term injury to £125m record signing Alexander Isak.
But on the pitch the Reds are now undefeated in 13 games in all competitions, the longest unbeaten streak of any team in Europe’s top five leagues, following a 3-0 thrashing of Marseille away in the Champions League, which has bolstered their hopes of qualifying automatically for the knockout stages of the competition. Liverpool developing interest in Micky van de Ven
Liverpool are cultivating a “keen interest” in Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven, 24, reports the Mirror.
Liverpool’s defence is reportedly set for a shake-up, with Van Dijk’s contract due to expire next summer, Gomez attracting interest from clubs offering more regular first-team action, and uncertainty surrounding Konate’s future.
Despite having 19-year-old talent Giovanni Leoni in their squad, his development has been put on hold as he recovers from a serious knee injury sustained in the Carabao Cup in September.
The Mail reports Van de Ven has declined talks to extend his contract. Now, the decision-makers at the north London club must decide whether to sell the defender, who will have three years left on his current deal at the end of the season.
According to GiveMeSport, Van de Ven is thought to be Liverpool’s top defensive target, and they are thought to be willing to offer up to £78m for the defender.
Kostas Tsimikas eyed for Premier League return
Liverpool’s Kostas Tsimikas, currently on loan at Serie A side Roma, is reportedly drawing interest from Nottingham Forest, according to The Athletic.
Sean Dyche’s team are said to be considering the Greek international as a potential left-back option, with Brazilian left-back Cuiabano’s future at the City Ground uncertain.
Tsimikas, 29, is reportedly on Forest’s radar and could cut short his stint in Rome after seeing limited playing time in Serie A. Roma are said to be open to terminating his loan if they can secure a suitable replacement.
Liverpool are plotting a swoop for relegation-battling Wolves
The Reds are reportedly eyeing a raid on struggling Wolves to land midfielder Andre, according to fresh claims.
Liverpool had previously been linked with the Brazilian before his switch to Molineux, having identified him as a potential target whilst he was plying his trade with Fluminense.
Now, RTI Esporte suggest that European sides are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old’s situation in the Midlands.
Rob Edwards’ side are scrapping to avoid the drop and a slide into the Championship could force their hand into selling key assets. Clubs from Italy, Turkey, France and England are reportedly circling Andre.
Liverpool have been mentioned as a side preparing to table an offer, with Wolves demanding at least £26m.
