Brit WWE star breaks silence on thriller absence as she admits ‘I can not rise up’

Piper Niven has been full time with WWE since 2019, picking up several championships, including the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside Chelsea Green, but hasn’t been seen on TV for months

A British WWE star has broken more than five months of silence to reveal just how bad her injury status is. Piper Niven – known as Viper when she competed on the UK independent scene – has not been seen on WWE television since beating Charlotte Flair in Dublin in August.

And while it was widely known that she was injured, the extent of which has never been made public, despite her team mates Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre trying to calm fears in recent months.

However, taking to social media site X overnight, the Scottish-born wrestler responded to a fan asking how she was feeling and if she’ll ever return to wrestling.

She said: “I am in a good spot rn (right now). I’m sorry I’ve been so quiet with you guys.

“I appreciate every single message and every tweet (x? Sk?) I get, even if I haven’t liked or responded. The truth is I’ve been so quiet as I know you have questions but the fact of the matter is, I don’t know yet.

“It’s five months on and some days when it’s bad I can’t stand up for more than a few minutes if even a minute. Do I want to come back? Of course I do.

“This is all I’ve done and all I’ve wanted to do since I was 16 years old and I can’t imagine doing anything else, I still love it as much as I did the first day I started.

“And I feel like I was really just starting to get confident again and open up and hit my groove. So all this to say, I hope so. Keep your fingers crossed for me”

Fans flocked to the comments to show support, as one said they were “praying” for her, while others said they “missed her”.

Another wrote: “Absolutely heartbroken over this. Wishing you a speedy recovery and can’t wait for you to make your way back to the ring.”

And a four said: “Every week my partner and I say we hope Piper Niven comes back soon. Such an in-ring talent and a pleasure to watch on the screen. I hope you recover soon! But if it’s longer than that, I hope you’re proud of the absolutely fucking BANGER your last match was.”
