At the height of being publicly vilified for her affair with married England footballing hero Kyle Walker – which resulted in her getting pregnant with a second child – Lauryn Goodman was rather smug about one thing: that she had given birth to Walker’s only daughter.

Born in August 2023, baby Kinara arrived into the world with four older brothers and half-brothers – Lauryn’s son Kairo and the three that Walker fathered with his wife Annie Kilner: Roman, Riaan and Reign.

Rezon, Annie’s fourth son, came along a few months later.

I spent a lot of time with Lauryn at that time and she would often remark upon Kinara being the only girl. I had the impression Lauryn felt she had something over Annie because she was bringing up Walker’s only daughter.

So the news that Annie, Walker’s wife of six years, is pregnant with her fifth child will surely have blindsided Lauryn: there is now a 50:50 chance that Annie’s newborn could be a little sister for Kyle’s six older children.

On Saturday, it was confirmed that Annie, 32, is pregnant and due to give birth this summer. Friends of Annie and Kyle say that ‘they are closer than ever’, having miraculously managed to save their marriage after he cheated with Lauryn.

‘You can imagine the scenes,’ says a former associate of Lauryn’s. ‘She loves a WhatsApp “voice note”, they’d have been non-stop on Saturday afternoon, I bet.’

Indeed, 34-year-old Lauryn wasted no time in making sure she was back in the headlines. On Sunday, she was pictured walking with a friend in central London.

Ensuring that she looked both glamorous and happy – the photos showed Lauryn laughing – the snaps had the hallmarks of a ‘set up’.

While it isn’t known if Lauryn was paid for this particular picture set, they were taken by a paparazzi agency with which she has had a long-standing arrangement. I know from my own experience that Lauryn likes to be paid for her media engagements.

‘Just as night follows day, it was only a matter of hours after Annie’s news was announced that Lauryn made sure she got her own column inches,’ explained the source.

‘The whole situation had died down. Annie and Kyle had quietly moved on after months of very difficult conversations.

‘Who knows what Lauryn made of that? The impression I got from her was that there is no way she thought Kyle would really ever get back with Annie.’

Those who know Lauryn were quick to remark that, despite her smiles, she might well have been seething to learn that Annie was pregnant once again.

She hasn’t always seemed the best of friends with Annie, her rival for Walker’s affections.

And it certainly seemed as though Lauryn was happy to stir the pot in the months after giving birth to her daughter Kinara – her second child with the footballer, who now plies his trade with struggling Burnley.

To recap, Kyle and wife Annie Kilner had been taking a break from each other when Kairo was conceived.

Then, in the aftermath of his birth, Lauryn irked Annie by asking a neighbour to spy on her. Lauryn threatened to move to Cheshire and posed for photographs, apparently house hunting in a spot close to where Walker and Annie lived.

Then, on December 27, 2023, Lauryn sent a text message to Annie to tell her that her husband was now the father of a second child with her – a little sister to Kairo, now six.

Annie, who was pregnant with her own, fourth, child with Walker at the time, was devastated and kicked him out of the £4million family home in Cheshire. He spent several months living in an apartment nearby.

The feud prompted a vicious briefing war. Lauryn refused to allow her children to be erased from public view and took part in a series of interviews in which she appealed for the former Manchester City and England defender to have a relationship with their two children, Kinara and Kairo.

‘Lauryn spent a good eight months reveling in being in the public eye,’ says a source who knew her well. ‘It consumed her.

‘If you spoke to her, you got the sense that she was happy that Annie and Kyle had split up.

‘She did, perhaps admirably, want Kyle to accept her children and treat them the same as his four – soon to be five – children with Annie.’

Lauryn’s determination saw her endure a humiliating day in court in July 2024, when she asked a judge to make financial provision for her two children.

In the course of the extraordinary hearing – which the Walkers fought to make public – it emerged that Lauryn had requested £31,200 to install an artificial-turf soccer pitch in her garden, arguing that her daughter Kinara, then two, had demonstrated potential to become a professional footballer.

She also wanted tens of thousands of pounds for cars, furnishing, air conditioning and property maintenance, as well as nursery fees.

In his ruling, Judge Edward Hess dismissed many of Lauryn’s demands, concluding that she was ‘not reliable’ while claiming Kyle ‘acted with dignity and generosity’ and described him as ‘sensible, honest and reliable’.

Last summer, I revealed that Annie and Kyle had mended their marriage – something even their nearest and dearest didn’t think would happen – as they enjoyed a family holiday to Disneyland in Florida.

It was all the more surprising given that, in October 2024, Annie consulted lawyers over the prospect of a divorce.

I’m told the secret to rekindling their relationship had been the end of the briefing war with Lauryn, who had been a thorn in their side for more than a year. Determined to be heard in public, Lauryn is said to have upset Annie on a daily basis.

Friends say a period of silence from Lauryn gave Walker and Annie the ‘space’ they needed to deal with their problems in private.

Thanks to the announcement of another child, however, the couple are back under the spotlight once again. Who knows what Lauryn will do next?
