Winter Olympics bronze medalist Sturla Holm Laegreid’s ex-girlfriend has responded after the biathlete publicly confessed to cheating on her after winning a bronze medal for Noeway
The ex-girlfriend of Sturla Holm Laegreid has revealed she is struggling to move past the Winter Olympics bronze medallist’s infidelity.
Following his third place in the men’s individual biathlon, Holm Laegreid confessed that “three months ago I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her.” His former girlfriend has now spoken anonymously to the Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang, saying: “It’s hard to forgive, even after a declaration of love in front of the whole world.
“I did not choose to be put in this position, and it hurts to have to be in it. We have had contact, and he is aware of my opinions on this.”

The woman also expressed gratitude to her support network. She added: “To my family and friends who have embraced me and supported me during this time, also to everyone else who has thought of me and sympathised, without knowing who I am.”
Holm Laegreid’s ex also praised his teammate Johan-Olav Botn, who claimed gold ahead of her former partner. The new Olympic champion honoured the late Team Norway biathlete Sivert Guttorm Bakken, who Botn found dead in his hotel room two days before Christmas.
She said: “It was touching to see that Sivert was included in the victory.” According to VG, Holm Laegreid has declined to respond to his former girlfriend’s remarks.

Holm Laegreid opened up about his personal life on Tuesday. The biathlete said: “Six months ago, I met the love of my life, the most beautiful and nicest person in the world.
“Three months ago, I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her. And I told her that a week ago. It has been the worst week of my life. I told her a week ago, and then it ended, of course.”
“I’m not ready to give up. I hope that committing social suicide may show how much I love her. I’m taking the consequences for what I’ve done. I regret it with all my heart.”
He later told VG: “My only way to solve it is to tell everything and put everything on the table, and hope that she can still love me. I’ve done that for her, and now for the whole world. I have nothing to lose. I want to be a good role model, but I have to admit when I make mistakes.”
He later said at a news conference: “Of course, now I hope I didn’t ruin Johan’s day. I don’t know if it was the right choice or not, but it was the choice I made. I made the choice to tell the world what I did, so maybe there’s a chance she will see what she really means to me – maybe not, but I don’t want to think I didn’t try everything to get her back.
“I don’t want to steal the show. I hope this is just like a day-or-two thing. Then you (Botn) are an Olympic gold medallist forever.”
