Ditch Apple’s new Bluetooth tracker for the unique AirTag because it drops below £11

Apple’s first-generation AirTag is available for more than half price

Apple shoppers are being tempted to ditch the brand’s latest Bluetooth tracker as the original model drops to less than £11. The AirTag is Apple’s coin-shaped gadget that helps users keep track of their valuables, including handbags, backpacks and holiday luggage.

The tiny device costs £29 at Amazon for the latest model, while the first-generation variant is now £26 at Argos, which the retailer says is its ‘lowest price’. But by shopping through TopCashback, new customers will receive a £15 sign-up bonus when they create a free account.

The site also pays customers cashback on orders at thousands of retailers like Argos, meaning the Apple AirTag can effectively be reduced to £10.75 after cashback. This saves £15.25 or roughly 58% compared to the usual price.

This offer is only available to new customers of both TopCashback and Argos. However, existing Argos and new TopCashback customers will still pay a heavily reduced £10.77 after cashback.

The Apple AirTag is compact enough to be easily kept in a purse, wallet, backpack, or on a pet’s collar. When paired with the ‘Find My’ app on an Apple device, users can view the real-time location of the tag displayed on a map.

TopCashback members can get £15 cashback when they spend more than £15.

For when disaster strikes, the app can direct users back to the AirTag and play a sound on the built-in speaker to help find it quickly. It also features a ‘Lost Mode’ that can automatically notify users when it’s detected in the ‘Find My’ network.

The AirTag comes with a replaceable battery that lasts more than a year, and accessories are available, such as a case allowing it to attach conveniently to a keyring or pet collar. However, as an Apple device, the AirTag will not work with Android phones such as Samsung or Sony.

Luckily, the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 is now £13.60 at Amazon, undercutting Samsung’s own £23.80 price tag. For Apple users, here’s how to get a discounted AirTag:

Argos customers have awarded the Apple AirTag an impressive 4.7-star rating after more than 1,000 reviews. One satisfied shopper said: “I bought them, I tracked where my stuff was, and they worked a treat.”

Another said: “Recommend this handy find. Bought to go on keyrings, no more losing keys. Will buy more luggage, possibilities are endless. So handy, easy to set up on location.”

Others criticised the lack of instruction with the AirTag, saying: “Bought this for a recent holiday trip. Shame there aren’t any instructions, we’re not all tech savvy.”

Nevertheless, this five-star review says: “Excellent piece of kit. Allows me to track whatever I put it on or in luggage, backpack, motorcycle etc. For an Apple product it’s also surprisingly well priced.”
