I used to be on Deal Or No Deal and it left me bodily SICK – the stress was like giving delivery and even watching the episode again now makes me wish to chew chunks out of my hand

A contestant on Deal Or No Deal revealed how the experience left her physically sick – and recounted the stress she felt watching their episode back.

Helen McPherson appeared in an installment aired last month, where she walked away with £19,000.

While the episode was broadcast in January, it had actually been filmed 14 months earlier.

After such a long time to wait, Helen opened up about the nerves she felt even watching back other contestants’ games.

Posting on her TikTok page, she said: ‘The funny thing is, watching it back now, I’m literally like chewing chunks out of my hand.

‘My husband is like, “Hels, you were there, you know what happened”.

‘But, you forget so much of it and I feel the emotions as intensely as I did when I was there.

‘And when I came back, I was physically unwell from the adrenaline crash and then I was okay again and now it’s the reliving it all.

‘My cortisol levels are up [high] every time I watch someone else’s game.

‘Even though I was there and know how it went, there’s so much of it that I don’t remember.’

Before her game began on-screen, Helen told the show’s host Stephen Mulhern she hoped to spend possible winnings on a new car and family adventures.

Contestants on the ITV game show have the opportunity to win up to £100,000 in prize money.

In a recent episode, fans were ‘gutted’ after a player lost £100k following a disastrous mistake.

Sonia took to the studio to try and get her hands on some cash – and managed to open up all the blue boxes.

Towards the end of the episode, she had £10,000, £5,000 and £100,000 left to find.

But to be safe, she decided to take the banker’s offer of £22,670, meaning that she couldn’t go any further in the game show.

However, she did get to find out what was in her box – £100,000 – which left her devastated.

Stephen told her: ‘Sonia, you have been brilliant by the way, you really have.’

The banker called and told the host that if she had gone on for another box, he would have offered £52,670, which left the audience gasp in shock.

After finding out that her box had £100,000 in it, she simply said: ‘Aw man.’

‘It’s quite unbelievable, you knew you had it,’ Stephen told her.

Many rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share how gutted they were for Sonia.

‘Who would have thought opening a couple of shoe boxes would be so dramatic! #DealOrNoDeal.’

‘Still a huge amount to win, but yikes missing out on the £100k – gutted for her.’

‘Wow! Sonia played an incredible gams….but she went against her gut feeling!! £52,670 at the 2 box stage. £100,000 in her box.’

Before the current iteration, Deal Or No Deal originally aired on Channel 4 from 2005 to 2016.

It was presented by Noel Edmonds, with contestants in this version playing for up to £250,000.
