Man tattooed three ‘scared’ younger youngsters and located ‘scenario hilarious’

Patrick Coe has been jailed for three years after he tattooed three young children, leaving them physically and emotionally damaged by his “foolish” and “harmful” acts

A cruel man tricked three young children into being tattooed after telling them they were temporary and found the “situation hilarious”.

Patrick Coe has been described as “staggeringly stupid” after being sentenced to prison for permanently tattooing three young children. He caused the kids lasting physical and emotional harm.

A court heard that Coe’s actions were “foolish” and “harmful”, leaving the youngsters in pain and requiring medical attention to prevent potential infections.

The children reported that the tattooing process was painful, prompting family members to seek medical help, including hepatitis B and tetanus injections, as well as blood tests. When confronted, Coe showed no remorse, instead admitting to his actions and claiming he saw nothing wrong with them.

He even “laughed and joked” about the situation, finding it “found the whole situation hilarious”.

One of the victims described the pain as a seven out of ten, suffering a minor infection, swelling, and pain. The aftercare was also woefully inadequate, consisting of only a baby wipe to clean the tattoo site.

One victim has since struggled with anxiety and has been undergoing therapy to cope with the trauma, reports Chronicle Live.

A second victim was misled into believing the tattoo was temporary, only to experience slight pain and itchiness at school. The subsequent medical treatments, including multiple injections and blood tests, caused “significant anxiety and distress”.

This victim “hates” the tattoo and is likely to require therapy to deal with the emotional fallout. A third victim was left “upset and scared”, plagued by sleep issues, requiring therapy and experiencing significant anxiety due to the medical treatment.

Judge Sarah Mallett told him: “The children didn’t choose to have a permanent tattoo. They were put at risk by you giving them tattoos. They are visibly marked with a permanent reminder of you and this.

“This was a staggeringly stupid and foolish thing to do and also a very harmful thing to do.”

Coe, 31, residing at Grafton House, Byker, Newcastle, admitted to three counts of child cruelty and was sentenced to three years in prison and issued a ten-year restraining order.

Brian Hegarty, defending, remarked: “It’s quite staggering and defies belief he could be so foolish.”

Mr Hegarty stated that Coe did not intend to inflict pain on the victims and is remorseful.

He added: “He does now appreciate what he did was incredibly stupid and should not have happened.”
