King Charles breaks silence on ex-Prince Andrew arrest in 104-word assertion

King Charles has broken his silence on the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest today (February 19).

Andrew has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and is currently in police custody.

Thames Valley Police confirmed the arrest following allegations made against the former prince after the release of millions of pages of files related to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew, who celebrates his 66th birthday today, is the first senior royal in modern history to be arrested.

The news of a 66-year-old man being arrested, believed to be Andrew, has prompted the King to release a 104-word statement expressing his deepest concern.

A Palace spokesperson previously said King Charles had ‘profound concern’ over the allegations

The King said in a written statement: “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office.

“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.

“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.

“Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.

“As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all. Charles R.”
