Trump warns ‘dangerous issues will occur’ if nuclear cope with Iran is not reached in 10 days
The Orange Manbaby said during a speech that the world will find out whether the US will reach a deal with Iran or take military action “over the next, probably, 10 days”
Donald Trump has threatened Iran with “bad things” if a deal on nuclear weapons isn’t done within 10 days. The US president, 79, said Iran “can’t have a nuclear weapon and they’ve been told that very strongly”.
Speaking during the first meeting of his “board of peace”, the Orange Manbaby warned: “It’s proven to be, over the years, not easy to make a meaningful deal with Iran. We have to make a meaningful deal, otherwise bad things happen.”
He added: “Now is the time for Iran to join us on a path that will complete what we’re doing and if they join us that will be great, but if they don’t join us, that will be great too.
“But it will be a very different path. It cannot continue to threaten the entire stability of the region. They must make a deal or if that doesn’t happen… bad things will happen.”
Speaking to delegates in Washington – before he was pictured dozing off – Trump was about about breakdowns in nuclear talks and gave an ominous ultimatum.
He said: “We may have to take it a step further, or we may not. Maybe we’re going to make a deal. You’re going to be finding out over the next probably 10 days.”
Trump has repeatedly threatened to strike Iran if they do not come to a deal with the US to shut down nuclear development. And the White House briefed on Thursday that a “weeks-long blitz” on Iran could start as early as this weekend.
US missile and aircraft struck three Iranian nuclear facilities in June last year, and the White House was reportedly discussing new attack options this week.
American forces have been ramping up their presence in the region in recent weeks, including the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. And UK-based US Air Force jets were moved within strike range of the Middle East.
Multiple fighter aircraft have been given diplomatic clearance to enter Jordanian airspace, according to open source air traffic communications. Satellite images show 12 US F-15 attack planes at Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base.
The escalation comes after Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamanei, posted messages to social media threatening US forces.
One post read: “The US President constantly says that the US has sent a warship toward Iran. Of course, a warship is a dangerous piece of military hardware. However, more dangerous than that warship is the weapon that can send that warship to the bottom of the sea.”
