Generation Z battle to determine old-fashioned automobile equipment
Remember finessing the choke on your car dashboard as you switched on the ignition to fire up and coax your engine to life (like on my old classic MG Midget)?
Well, today’s ‘Gen Z-ers’ won’t have a clue what you are talking about.
A choke tops the list of retro car features Generation Z – those born between 1997-2012 – cannot identify, and is cited by 92 per cent of respondents in a poll by online car dealer Cazoo.

That’s followed by a T-bar (90 per cent), manual aerial (72 per cent) and car ashtray (65 per cent).
Charlie Harvey, of Cazoo, said: ‘Car design has evolved massively in the last 20 years and it’s interesting how quickly knowledge of obsolete features has faded.’
