British lady with £63quadrillion fortune greater than Elon Musk’s ‘will not take the mick’
Sophie Downing has become the ‘world’s richest person’ with a bank balance that far surpasses that of Elon Musk — but whilst she said she will use the money responsibly, there is a catch

A UK business owner has become the wealthiest person in the history of the world, even toppling Elon Musk — but there’s a catch. She is now the proud owner of a £63 quadrillion fortune, a move she said she would not “take the mick” over.
Sophie Downing, from Nottingham, was floored when she saw her huge balance boost. She only discovered the mega increase when she popped into a cafe to buy some coffee and croissants.
Sophie admitted she received what she believed was a voucher worth £10 for 200 Degrees Coffee for Christmas. Yet when she used it to purchase a matcha latte last week, she discovered the balance was somewhat higher — exceeding £63quadrillion.
That’s 63 with 15 zeros. Or a thousand trillion. Or a million billion, we reported before.
But the catch is that whilst she has a huge amount of money sitting in her account, she cannot use it to buy whatever her heart desires. Instead, she can simply use her huge balance to buy as many baked goods as she wants.
The 29 year old initially used the gift card at the 200 Degrees coffee shop in Flying Horse Walk during her lunch break last Thursday (February 12).
“The guy at the till was really confused,” Sophie joked. “His face was just like ‘what?'”.
“This massive number came up on the till. He said ‘I’ve never seen it before but it’s fine for you to keep it’.
“I didn’t clock it until he gave me the receipt. I thought ‘surely not, that’s actually crazy’.”
Ms Downing, who operates the Secret Sugar Club, a hair removal service, used the gift card for a second time on Tuesday (February 17) and saw the balance still in its tens of quadrillions. 200 Degrees has yet to respond to Ms Downing about the mistake, but she’s chosen not to use the card again.
She stated: “Maybe they have scanned the wrong thing. It looks as though they have scanned the barcode which has turned into the balance. I could go in and clear everything off the shelf but I don’t want to take the mick. It would be better if it was a different gift card.”
Whilst not liquid cash, it makes the matcha mogul a whopping 100,000 times wealthier than her nearest rival, centibillionaire Elon Musk. The balance is also 670 times the total of the world economy.
“I thought it was really funny. I’ve never seen anything like that before,” said Ms Downing.
