Snooker icon prices £23 to play in opposition to followers at ‘pretend Wetherspoons’ in Thailand

Snooker fans have the chance to jet off 6,000 miles around the globe to a Wetherspoons dupe in Thailand and play a frame against a legend of the sport for £23

Snooker fans are jetting off to a Wetherspoons dupe to play against icon Ken Doherty, who is charging £23 for a frame and a signed picture.

The 56-year-old former world champion, who has six ranking titles, is heading 6,000 miles across the world for a meet and greet. The event is hosted at an imitation of the iconic chain of cheap boozers, called Witherspoons.

The pub located in Pattaya, Thailand, is hosting a £23.71 evening with Ken Doherty, as reported by What’s The Jam. The event with the ‘Darling of Dublin’ will start at 7pm on March 19.

The £23.71 price includes a signed photo and a chance to play a frame with the 1997 world champion. Only 30 lucky punters will be able to play the star – with a limit of 30 frames set for the evening.

The pub is a massive hit with Brits abroad, charging just £2.83 for pints.

A spokesperson for Witherspoons said: “This March, snooker legend Ken Doherty, the Darling of Dublin and former World Champion, is coming to Witherspoons Pattaya for a special one-night event on Soi Buakhao.

“And this isn’t just a meet and greet. You can actually step up and play him.

“Only 30 players will get the chance to take on Ken Doherty.

“Once those slots are booked, that’s it. Booking in advance is important, just in case.
