Lapdance bar buyer arrested for racking up £500 price of dances and refusing to pay

Roberto Maldonado engaged in what has been dubbed “lap lifting”, derived from the act of shoplifting and lap dancing, by racking up a whopping bill at a gentlemen’s club and refusing to pay

A drunk reveller has been arrested for refusing to pay after racking up 15 private dances at a lap dancing club. Roberto Maldonado, 46, racked up $650 (£490) worth of dances at a gentlemen’s club.

But he refused to pay the stripper’s total bill after his lap dance marathon and offered just $50. He then “refused to pay any amount,” police said. Cops were called to the Reign gentlemen’s club in Clearwater, Florida, after he refused to pay for his $40 a pop dance.

They said Maldonado “appeared under the influence” and they told him “payment was required for the services he had requested and received.” He was charged with theft.

An arrest report says Maldonado “spoke incoherently” and was “speaking in circles”. They said he refused to make any effort to pay the lap dance balance. He was arrested and spent the nights in cells.

A judge has ordered him to stay away from Reign and other bars or clubs and prohibited him from using alcohol or illegal drugs. Maldonado must also submit to any alcohol or drug testing requested by the court or law enforcement officials.

An arrest affidavit states he “knowingly and unlawfully” accepted the dances without paying.

It reads: “The defendant was present at the establishment and requested private dances from an employee the employee provided the defendant with fifteen (15) private dances at a rate of $40 per dance.

“The total value of the services provided was approximately $600. An additional review fee brought the total amount owed to $650 after the services were completed.

“The employee requested payment from the defendant for the services rendered the defendant refused to pay the total amount owed and stated he would only pay $50. The defendant subsequently refused to pay any amount.

“I made contact with the defendant and explained that payment was required for the services he had requested and received.

“The defendant appeared to be under the influence and spoke incoherently, repeatedly changing his statements and speaking in circles.

“Despite being advised multiple times that he was required to pay for the services he had received, the defendant refused to make any effort to pay the outstanding balance.

“The defendant knowingly obtained services of value from the establishment with the intent to avoid payment, thereby depriving the establishment of lawful compensation for those services.”
