M1 visitors chaos with all lanes closed as police rush to crash close to Staveley

A section of a major motorway was brought to a complete halt following a road traffic accident. All carriageways on the M1 northbound between junctions J29 and J29a were sealed off on Saturday morning, March 15.
The entrance slip on the M1 northbound at junction 29 was also blocked. Derbyshire Police attended the scene, with National Highways stating: “Due to an ongoing Derbyshire Police-led incident, the M1 is currently closed in both directions within J29A near Staveley.
“TrafficOfficers are on scene to assist with strategic closures on the approach with traffic being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at this stage.” Traffic cameras in the area show extensive tailbacks forming.
Drivers are reportedly facing a congestion of approximately 20 minutes.
