Naked Russian man ‘kills British spy girlfriend’ earlier than ‘decapitating a pigeon’
A Russian man has been detained on suspicion of murder after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend, 29, to death in St Petersburg, falsely accusing her of being a ‘British spy’ before running naked into the street
A Russian man has been arrested for “stabbing to death” his lover, 29, after accusing her of being a “British spy”.
The alleged murderer also “decapitated a pigeon” before sprinting completely naked onto the street in St Petersburg, according to reports. Officers were summoned by concerned neighbours and the suspect – identified as Timur Demidenko, 30 – reportedly instantly “confessed to killing his girlfriend”.
He told police he acted to “save” Russia from a “British agent”. “I saved the country from a spy,” he told officers. Police discovered a woman’s body in a pool of blood in his chaotic flat.
The Russian Investigative Committee launched a murder probe. The victim is believed to be Russian.
The man, who has previous convictions, was arrested and officers said he “confessed” and “expressed remorse for the killing”.
He will undergo a series of psychiatric assessments pending a full-scale murder investigation, but has been remanded in pre-trial custody.
Meanwhile, a woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an 18-day-old baby girl died after falling from height.
Cops rushed to the scene in central London on Saturday morning after reports that a baby had fallen from a height from a residential property. The baby was rushed to hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead, the Met said.
A 43-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. She was taken into police custody, where she remains. Police attended the incident at Horseferry Road in Westminster, London, at around 7:30am this morning. Detectives have called the incident “extremely tragic” and have stated specialist officers are supporting the child’s family as inquiries continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the Met’s investigation, said: “Our thoughts today are with the baby’s family. The death of an infant is always an extremely tragic occurrence, and officers are making urgent enquiries around the circumstances.”
The detective added: “At this stage, we believe the incident occurred within a domestic context, but we are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.” Anybody who witnessed the incident is urged to call 101, quoting reference 1596/14MAR.
