BREAKING Grand National 2026 runners and riders revealed as full 34-horse checklist confirmed
The runners and riders for the 2026 Randox Grand National have been confirmed. A complete line-up of 34 horses, the maximum field size permitted, has been assembled for the £1 million world-renowned race taking place at Aintree Racecourse on Saturday afternoon.
2024 winner I Am Maximus is the top weight centrepiece at 11st12lb after fellow JP McManus-owned Spillane’s Tower was withdrawn from the race given he is scheduled to compete in the Racing Welfare Bowl Chase on the opening day of this year’s meeting.
I Am Maximus is attempting to become the first horse to carry top weight to glory since triple winner Red Rum in the 1970s. Meanwhile, Nick Rockett will seek to replicate Tiger Roll’s extraordinary consecutive victories secured in 2018 and 2019. The only other horse to accomplish that achievement was Red Rum.
McManus is pursuing a record fourth triumph in the race and has leading challengers Iroko and Jagwar – both trained by Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero – among his prospects. Conor King’s potential maiden runner in the Aintree marathon, novice Oscars Brother, has also secured his place.

The Jonjo and AJ O’Neill-trained Johnnywho, who also sports the famous green and gold colours of McManus, is fancied to perform well following his Cheltenham Festival success over Jagwar in the Ultima Handicap Chase last month.
Gordon Elliott, who has also saddled three National winners, has five entries with Gerri Colombe, Firefox and Favori De Champdou – the defeated favourite in the Cross Country Chase at the Cheltenham Festival – among the highest weighted runners. Another from Elliott’s yard, Pied Piper, currently sits 35th on the list and will secure a place if one more horse pulls out.
