The UK’s best-rated resort for 2026 revealed – and it is solely £200 an evening

A five-star rural retreat with a championship golf course, Thai-themed spa and rooms from just £200 a night has been named the UK’s best-rated hotel by Which? Travel

Lough Erne Resort sits in 600 acres of countryside in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, and won a glowing review from inspectors, achieving the rare feat of a full five-star rating.

Only one other UK hotel in the last eight years has managed the top rating when reviewed by the independent consumer champion, which goes undercover to ensure impartiality.

Price was considered one of Lough Erne’s biggest advantages; Which? Travel described it as ‘the best-value stay in the country’.

Guests can access the Nick Faldo Championship Golf Course and a spectacular setting on the banks of Erne Lough for around £200 a night when checking into one of the 25 lodges and 95 rooms.

The property hosted the G8 summit in 2013, with US President Barack Obama with Russian President Vladimir Putin in attendance.

Lough Erne’s grand exterior is based on Scotland’s regal country houses, and boasts a sweeping staircase and drawing room.

Linen on the beds is Egyptian cotton, with many rooms in the main house coming with lake views.

Which? Travel’s editor, Rory Boland, also praised the dining opportunities, particularly breakfast, saying: ‘Ours eggs benedict were freshly laid at a farm down the road, with bacon from County Armagh and a delicately tangy butter and tarragon sauce from County Derry.

‘It’s all served in the formal Catalina restaurant, where you can also indulge in well-priced AA rosette-awarded food overlooking the Nick Faldo golf course.’

Gareth Byrne, the resort’s General Manager, said of the praise: ‘This is an incredible honour for everyone at Lough Erne Resort.

‘What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that Which? Travel’s reviews are conducted anonymously and independently, reflecting the real experience our guests have when they stay with us.

‘To be only the second hotel in eight years to receive a five-star rating from such a trusted consumer authority is truly special, and a wonderful testament to the dedication of our entire team.’

The hotel was bought in 2015 by US-based Advantage Capital Holdings and TRU Hotels and Resorts.
