Dad finds daughter, 19, lifeless on bed room ground after being ‘killed by household canine’

Jamie-Lea Biscoe was fatally attacked by her family’s seven year old pet inside her home – her dad Jack, 37, found his teenage daughter on his bedroom floor with a bite wound to her neck

The devastated father of a 19 year old who was tragically killed by her pet lurcher has issued a stark warning to dog owners, as he recounts the horrifying moment he discovered his daughter.

Jamie-Lea Biscoe was fatally attacked by her family’s seven year old pet inside their home. Her dad Jack, 37, found his teenage daughter on his bedroom floor with a bite wound to her neck, despite the pet having no previous history of aggression or biting. Emergency services were called to the property in Leaden Roding, Essex, at around 10.45pm on Friday, but sadly Jamie-Lea was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jack, 37, said the family had bought the female dog named Shy, now seized by police, as a seven-week-old puppy and it was Jamie-Lea’s “best friend”.

He revealed that the pet used to sleep on his daughter’s bed and insisted his 19 year old was “not killed by an XL Bully, she was killed by a genuine family dog”.

The distraught father explained that he and his partner Steven Daniels had gone to KFC that evening, only to return and find Jamie-Lea on the floor, he told The Sun. Jack attempted CPR on his daughter, but the dog then began to attack him, biting off his ear, reports the Mirror.

In a cautionary message to other pet owners, Jack, speaking to The Sun, said: “I thought I could trust that dog with my life and it took my daughter’s life.”

Following Jamie-Lea’s death, Jack was arrested by Essex Police on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death. He was released on bail on Saturday night.

The father also has two other dogs, Shy’s puppies, which were allegedly downstairs during the attack, and all three pets were taken into custody by police.

Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper stated on Saturday: “”I know this incident will be a shock to the local community. My thoughts, and those of us all at Essex Police, are with the loved ones of the woman who died yesterday.

“We will have officers in the area throughout today so please come and speak to them if you have any information or have any concerns. Experienced detectives are leading the investigation to understand exactly what has happened.”
