Murder-suicide kills man and lady at $1m residence of high former Democrat lawmaker Justin Fairfax whose spouse had filed for divorce

A man killed a woman and then himself in a murder-suicide at the $1 million Virginia home of top former Democrat lawmaker Justin Fairfax.

Officers were called to a home on Guinevere Drive in Annandale early Thursday morning, Fairfax County Police said.

Property records reviewed by the Daily Mail confirmed the residence is owned by the former Virginia lieutenant governor, 47, and his wife Cerina. 

Cerina, 49, filed filed for divorce from Fairfax last year and the proceedings were ongoing at the time of the deaths.

Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the deceased, with a press conference expected to take place imminently. 

Fairfax, a former federal prosecutor and civil litigator, served as Virginia’s lieutenant governor from 2018 to 2022 under then-governor Ralph Northam. 

He launched his own bid for governor in 2021 but only finished fourth in the Democratic primary after his campaign was heavily overshadowed by sexual assault allegations.

The home belonged to former Lt Gov Justin Fairfax and his wife Cerina, seen with their two children

Police descended on the residence just after midnight after a 911 caller told dispatchers that he thought his father stabbed his mother.

When officers arrived on scene, they discovered a woman unconscious and bleeding inside the home. Police determined the victim had been shot.

The son, whose age has not been disclosed, told responding officers he did not know where his father was.

Investigators later found the man in a separate area of the home with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
