Man Utd information: 13 stars ‘set to go away’ as flop says switch ‘finest determination of my life’

Manchester United are prioritising the appointment of a permanent manager this summer, with up to 13 players also expected to leave Old Trafford in a major squad overhaul

As Manchester United strive to nail down a Champions League berth, long-term strategies are being devised at Old Trafford.

The primary objective is to recruit a permanent manager, with Michael Carrick making a strong impression during his stint as interim boss. Nevertheless, there is also a valid argument for United to secure a seasoned top-level manager.

The squad also requires bolstering, with midfield being a key area of concern. United will also seek to offload players who have no prospects at the club, irrespective of who takes charge. On the field, following the triumph at Chelsea, the Red Devils are gearing up to welcome Brentford on Monday evening. Here’s all the latest news from Old Trafford.

United exodus

The tally of United departures could hit 13 this summer, as INEOS braces for a substantial shake-up, reports the Mirror.

Several prominent figures are set to leave, including Brazlian midfield general Casemiro, 34, who will exit when his contract expires. United are also eager to shift on loan winger Marcus Rashford, 28, who earns £300,000 per week.

Barcelona possess the option to acquire Rashford permanently for £26million, though reports from Spain indicate their appetite for finalising the transfer has diminished.

Other players currently on loan, such as Rasmus Hojlund, Jadon Sancho and Andre Onana, are expected to cut their ties with United.

The potential exodus doesn’t stop there, with Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte, Tyrell Malacia and goalkeepers Radek Vitek and Altay Bayindir potentially seeking fresh challenges elsewhere.

Several academy graduates could also depart, including Tyler Fredricson, Toby Collyer and Dan Gore.

Antony’s joy

United mega flop Antony has described his Old Trafford exit as the finest decision of his career as he flourishes at his new club.

The 26-year-old was among the so-called ‘bomb squad’ under Amorim who the Portuguese boss deemed surplus to requirements.

Last summer, he completed a permanent switch to Real Betis, where he had enjoyed a successful loan during the latter half of the previous season.

Despite United suffering a substantial financial loss on a player they acquired from Ajax for an astonishing £81m, his exit was viewed as beneficial for all concerned.

The Brazilian is maximising his opportunity for a clean slate, based on his performances this campaign, contributing 13 goals and nine assists. Antony told ESPN Brazil: “It was one of the best decisions of my life to stay at Betis.

“I am very happy. My family weighed heavily in the decision. Seeing them happy is important. It makes things lighter on the pitch when the family is well.”

Carrick supported

Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham says he would be “very disappointed” if Carrick isn’t handed the role permanently this summer.

The interim manager has restored order following Ruben Amorim’s tenure to steer United towards the verge of Champions League qualification.

Sheringham, a member of the 1999 Treble-winning team, told talkSPORT: “It just shows you what can be done if you’ve got the right approach. If you get on the right wavelength with players, things turn around very, very quickly.

“He’s had that reaction from him and they’ve gone on from there. I’d be very disappointed in Man United if they didn’t give Michael Carrick the job. I think he’s been fantastic since he’s gone in there.”

While United chiefs have been taken aback by Carrick’s impact, a final decision won’t be reached until the season’s end, with Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann now reportedly in the club’s sights.
