Merseyside Police have arrested two people after a ‘shocking’ brawl took place at the David Lloyd gym on the Knowsley Industrial Estate on Arbour Lane in Merseyside
An alleged fight broke out at a popular gym in Merseyside as police were called to the scene. Two men have been arrested after an incident inside the David Lloyd gym on the Knowsley Industrial Estate on Arbour Lane at around 6.10pm yesterday, (April 27).
Police were called to reports two men found injured after reportedly fighting. A 46-year-old man from Brighton-le-Sands and a 53-year-old man from Netherley were both found at the scene and subsequently arrested on suspicion of affray. They were taken to police stations for questioning.
Videos have been shared widely online of the two men appearing to be fighting in the men’s changing room of the gym. The incident was reportedly in view of children.
A witness told the Liverpool ECHO how staff were called over the tannoy to the men’s changing room following the altercation.
Detective inspector Edward Barr has since labelled the incident “shocking”.
In his statement, DI Barr also asked for members of the public to stop speculating on the viral social media footage and contact Merseyside Police with information.
He said: “This would have been a shocking incident to witness, carried out in full view of members of the public nearby, including children.
“We are gathering all available evidence and want to speak to anyone who saw what happened, or has since received information.
“Two men are in custody and we are working hard to establish the timeline of this incident.
“We are aware of social media video of the incident and I would urge people with information not to comment on such channels, but come into us directly so as not to hinder the investigation.”
