Rachael Blackmore praises ‘summer season vibe’ as Punchestown Festival will get higher climate than Ibiza

Punchestown, which serves as one of the biggest sporting events in Ireland, is about to heat up as it’s set to have better weather than Ibiza – with Rachael Blackmore praising the ‘summer vibe’

Racing fans don’t need to worry about airplane fuel shortages – as they can find all the sun they need much closer to home. Punchestown Festival is set for a week of golden sunshine on course with less rain predicted in County Kildare than in Ibiza. Queen of racing Rachael Blackmore bigs up the summer vibe blessing Ireland. Betfair ambassador Rachael said: “It’s a week that so many people love and keep coming back to. There is a summer vibe around. Good weather is always a big help there, but you also have most of the best National Hunt horses lining up.” The Irish Meteorological Service predict that the week will mostly stay “dry and sunny with clear spells” apart from a few “scattered showers” at the end of the week.

But these are accompanied by some “drier and brighter spells” in the afternoon. As for Ibiza, the holiday island has a 20 percent chance of rain all day on Friday, which reduces to 10 percent on Saturday. Adding to this, party fiends will be faced with cloudy settings – miles away from the glorious sunshine set to bless the Emerald Isle. The luck of the Irish might not be foolproof, however, as temperatures in Ibiza are currently sitting at 19 degrees celsius, two degrees warmer than Punchestown. But the on course action is bound to keep revellers warm regardless, with an impressive number of 136,900 pints set to be sunk. There’ll also be 10,600 measures of Irish whiskey and 14,000 champagne glasses used. You can’t drink on an empty stomach, however, as it’s estimated that three tonnes of fresh vegetables, 60 kilos of artisan cheeses and 1050 loaves of bread will be served by staff.

The perfect temperature for a pint of Guinness is set at six to eight degrees celsius, meaning Ibiza might in fact be too warm for the nation’s favourite beverage. Punchestown CEO Conor O’Neill explains the scale and impact of the Festival: “World class championship sport remains at the heart of what we do and alongside this our strategy is to enhance, elevate, and excel in an extremely competitive leisure and entertainment market. “Whilst the enclosures, pavilions and bars are packed with festival goers enjoying racing, great live entertainment, style, shopping, food and beverage, we will host over 24,000 people from 800 companies as Ireland’s largest corporate hospitality event with seasonal, locally sourced menus prepared and served by excellent teams of over 600 staff.”
