Female instructor sacked after ‘having intercourse with pupil’ who referred to as her his ‘secret girlfriend’
Florida teacher Kirsten Rose, 37, was fired and charged with five counts of sexual activity with a minor over an alleged relationship with a pupil
A maths teacher has been kicked out of the classroom after allegedly being caught in a relationship with a pupil. Kirsten Rose, 37, was axed by bosses at Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School following claims she had sex with a minor who allegedly referred to the educator as his “secret girlfriend.”
The Brevard Public Schools board in Florida officially fired Rose on Tuesday. The move comes 18 days after she was first side-lined on administrative leave as the shocking allegations came to light.
The board said: “We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and are deeply troubled by these allegations. The district remains committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.”
Messages between the pair reportedly began on social media five months ago, according to court documents.
Investigators claim the pair stayed in constant contact via Instagram through the New Year, before they are alleged to have had sex in February and March.
The allegations were only exposed when the boy’s parents grew suspicious after he arrived home late from work one night in March.
After tracking his phone to an unfamiliar address, the boy’s parents demanded answers. Cornered by his family, the student initially tried to cover his tracks by claiming he had been visiting his “girlfriend.”
While he kept Rose’s identity hidden at first, he eventually buckled under questioning and confessed that he was allegedly involved with his teacher.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office launched an immediate investigation following the parents’ report.
Detectives say evidence shows the pair had been messaging privately since November last year.
A spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office confirmed the school took “immediate action” to remove Rose from the classroom.
Rose has now been hit with five counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. She is expected to appear in court for her arraignment on May 5.
