Tragedy as man in 20s dies in Lough Neagh jet ski accident as tributes paid

A man who died in a jet ski accident has been identified locally. Emergency crews were called to the Gawleys Gate/Bartens Bay section of Lough Neagh at approximately 1.30pm on Thursday, April 30 following reports that a man had got into difficulties in the water.
Tragically the body of a man was subsequently retrieved from the water, with him being identified locally as Shea McGreevy who was in his late 20s. Numerous tributes to Shea have appeared online following his death, reports Belfast Live.
After the incident, Lough Neagh Rescue released a statement on social media saying: “At 13:28 today, our lifeboats were tasked by Belfast Coastguard to reports of a person in the water in the Gawleys Gate/Bartens Bay area.”
“Lough Neagh Rescue crews carried out a detailed search alongside Rescue 116, the Lough Neagh Coastguard Rescue Team, and other HM Coastguard assets.
“During the search, a body was recovered from the water. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this very difficult time.
“We would like to thank all agencies involved for their assistance and professionalism throughout the operation.”
Tributes to Shea have poured in on social media. One said: “Can’t believe I’m reading this! Rest easy Shea. Thinking of all your family and friends & especially your daughter.”
Another added: “Absolutely devastating news godbless him and godbless his whole family, rip.”
While one added: “RIP i honestly cant believe this u were a gentle man GBNF.”
