Obama says US authorities could not disguise aliens as a result of guards would put up ‘ET selfies’
Barack Obama says the US government is too ‘leaky’ to hide aliens, joking that guards would’ve already posted ET selfies to impress their girlfriends
Barack Obama has shut down rumours of a Pentagon alien cover-up, insisting the US government is far too leaky to keep a secret that big. Despite Donald Trump and Capitol Hill bigwigs teasing the release of top-secret UFO files, the former President claims there are no “little green men” stashed away in Area 51.
Sitting down with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, Obama put the brakes on conspiracy theories, arguing that if the government actually had its hands on extraterrestrial tech, it would have been all over social media by now.
Colbert grilled the 44th President, telling him “nobody believed you” when he previously tried to backtrack on comments about aliens being “real.”
Obama was quick to pour cold water on the idea of a massive intergalactic conspiracy.
He said: “Here’s the thing: For those of you who still think that we’ve gotten little green men underground somewhere, one of the things you learn as president is the government is terrible at keeping secrets.
“This idea of conspiracy theories – if there were aliens or alien spaceships or anything under the control of the United States government that we knew about, seen, photographs, what have you…I promise you some guy guarding the installation would have taken a selfie with one of the aliens and sent it to his girlfriend to impress her. There would be leaks.”
The former Commander-in-Chief admitted he actually hopes we aren’t alone and and he’s already volunteering to be Earth’s first representative to our galactic neighbours.
He said: “First contact, I think I would be a good emissary for the planet. I’ve got some experience at statecraft and diplomacy. I’m friendly. So I actually think I could do a pretty good job.”
But for those hoping for a close encounter anytime soon, he added a reality check: “But it hasn’t happened yet.”
Obama’s scepticism comes as Donald Trump continues to position himself as the “disclosure president.”
The property mogul recently claimed the Pentagon is sitting on some “very interesting” data regarding Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP).
Trump recently said: “We’re going to be releasing a lot of things that we haven’t. I think some of it’s going to be very interesting to people.”
In April, he said: “The first [UFO] releases will begin very, very soon… So you can go out and see if that phenomena is correct. You’ll figure it out.”
While Trump previously ordered the release of records surrounding the JFK and Martin Luther King Jr. assassinations, the documents failed to produce any “smoking gun” evidence, leaving many wondering if the upcoming UFO files will be similarly underwhelming.
