Jon Stewart Reveals Why Tucker Carlson’s Trump Shift Is ‘No Epiphany’

“And Tucker’s move is just the latest shift of the grift, that’s all this is,” said Stewart on the latest episode of “The Weekly Show” podcast.

“There’s no epiphany. It’s just, ‘Oh, that fucking ship is sinking.’”

Carlson — much like right-wing figures such as ex-Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Alex Jones and Megyn Kelly — has dialed up his criticism of Trump in recent months, particularly since he launched his unpopular Iran war in February.

Last month, he reacted to the president posting an AI-generated image depicting himself as Jesus, using his self-titled show to question whether Trump was “the Antichrist.”

Carlson, when confronted on his remarks in an interview with New York Times journalist Lulu Garcia-Navarro, claimed he didn’t say “could this be the Antichrist” on the show (despite doing just that on camera).

Stewart, moments after “Weekly Show” producer Gillian Spear claimed that the mainstream media doesn’t hold figures like Carlson “accountable” while remarking on the NYT profile, suggested outlets were trying to frame the former Fox News host’s shift from Trump as “an interesting transformation.”

“No it’s not!” he stressed.
