Michael van Gerwen’s Premier League Darts emotions completely clear after Luke Littler snub
Michael van Gerwen will be back in Premier League Darts action on Thursday but the Dutchman has sent a clear message over his involvement
Michael van Gerwen has told Premier League Darts bosses he doesn’t ‘give a f***’ about the competition ahead of the next round of matches. The Dutchman instead had his complete focus on the Austrian Open, which took place over the weekend.
Reigning world champion Luke Littler snubbed the tournament. The Nuke chose not to compete as he manages his diary during a hectic period of the year. He also withdrew from the European Darts Grand Prix last month due to scheduling reasons.
Despite the packed schedule, Van Gerwen did compete in the event. Following his victory over Krzysztof Ratajski in his opening match of the tournament on Saturday.
Following that match, he said: “Krzysztof is in really good form and playing good darts and then you have to do something special.
“That is exactly what I did today. I am playing some good darts lately. In the last two weeks I have picked up a good feeling and good momentum.
“But you have to show it in the games. I did that today and everyone knows what I am capable of.
“My main focus is this tournament, simple as that. What happens next Thursday I don’t really give a f***.

“For me, what is important is tomorrow. Everyone knows that. I didn’t have a good year last year, everyone knows that.
“So, on the ProTour ranking and European Tour ranking I have to smash them. For me, tomorrow is the most important day of the year.
“What we are going to have afterwards, let’s see. I don’t care.”
The 37-year-old faced Rob Cross on Sunday, but suffered a 4-6 loss. Josh Rock emerged as the champion, defeating Kevin Doets 8-6 in the final and pocketing the £35,000 prize money.
Despite his remarks, Van Gerwen’s focus will now shift back to the Premier League Darts on Thursday. He is set to compete against Gerwyn Price, before playing his final round of matches in Sheffield on May 31st.
