Rod Stewart slams ‘ratbag’ Donald Trump in damning remark to King Charles
Rock legend Rod Stewart praised King Charles for his ‘superb’ handling of Donald Trump during the King’s US state visit, telling him at a King’s Trust royal event that he had put the ‘little ratbag in his place’.

Rod Stewart didn’t hold back when discussing Donald Trump with King Charles III, appearing to dub the President a “ratbag”.
The 81-year-old singer-songwriter was present at an event marking the 50th anniversary of The King’s Trust on Monday, May 11. Charles, 77, and Queen Camilla, 78, were also among the attendees at this landmark celebration for the British monarch’s charity, held at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Charles also delivered a speech at the occasion.
A video shows the pair conversing at the event. Rod is said to have spoken to Charles about his recent state visit to the United States. He ended up both commending Charles and seemingly criticising Trump, appearing to label the 79-year-old as a “ratbag.”
Daily Mail’s Royal Expert Rebecca English reported in a tweet that Rod told Charles at one point, “May I say, well done in the Americas. You were superb. Absolutely superb. You put that little ratbag in his place….”
Charles’ back was turned to the camera but from a brief glimpse of his side profile, he seemed to be chuckling afterwards. It’s unclear what Charles replied to Rod following that comment, reports the Mirror US.
Earlier in January, Rod took to social media to lambast Trump following the former reality TV star’s claims that British and NATO forces shied away from the front lines in the war in Afghanistan.
Trump’s comments were denounced by the United Kingdom Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and various British organisations.
Rod created a video responding to Trump’s allegations and urged Starmer and Reform UK Leader Nigel Farage to demand Trump issue an apology.
“I may just be a humble rock star. I’m also a knight of the realm and I have my opinions.” The Maggie May singer began. “I was born just after the [World] War [II] and have great respect for our armed forces that fought and gave us our freedom.
“So, it hurts me badly, deeply when I read that the draft dodger Trump has criticized our troops in Afghanistan for not being on the front line,” Rod added.
“We lost over 400 of our guys. Think of their parents. Think about it and Trump calls ’em almost like cowards. It’s unbearable. So, I’m calling on you, Prime Minister Starmer and Farage. Please make the draft dodger Trump apologize, please,” he continued.
Rod wrapped up the video with a salute and “Take a stand” and “Thank You”, which appeared on screen.
Charles and Camilla wrapped up a four-day visit to the states from 27 to 30 April, where they received a welcome from Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, 56. Throughout the trip, Charles and Camilla travelled to Washington, DC, Virginia and New York City.
Charles also delivered an address to Congress and presented Trump with the original brass conning tower bell from HMS Trump, a British World War II submarine.
