‘He was unfortunate on his return at York final week’ – Jason Heavey’s horse racing ideas
The Daily Star’s top tipster fancies a Clive Cox handicap sprinter to come good at Windsor on Monday evening
REDORANGE (5.40, nb) is the pick of the bunch in the at Windsor tonight.
The four-year-old won a handicap at the Chester May meeting last term and was then only beaten a length and a head by the far-side group when third behind reopposing Adrestia in the 24-runner Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Unlucky in running on his return at York last Thursday, when repeatedly denied a clear run when unplaced behind Jakajaro, Clive Cox swiftly turns him out again in the Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap with Rossa Ryan taking the ride.
In one of the day’s most valuable races, the Juddmonte EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes for two-year-olds, CONCERT PITCH (5.05) should benefit from having two runs under his belt for Brian Ellison, who can double up at a big price with ARVANA BELLE (8.10) later in the day in the Free Race Replays On attheraces.com Handicap.
A nursery winner last term, the three-year-old drops back to 6f after finding a mile a struggle on her reappearance at Bath three weeks ago.
KING OF BERKSHIRE (7.10, trb) has done well for Andrew Balding since introduced to handicaps, finishing a short head second at Yarmouth last month, before scoring at Redcar 18 days ago, getting the better of Sudbury Hill by three-quarters of a length, the pair 10 lengths clear of the rest of the six-runner field.
He’s received a 6lb rise as a result but is clearly an improving sort.
Previously with David Menuisier, CHIMES OF THUNDER (6.10) can score for William Haggas in the other valuable maiden over a mile.
The filly just failed to get up over the same trip in a Haydock novice event on her stable debut 23 days ago.
At Redcar, Kevin Ryan looks set for a double with KODIAC BREEZE (1.40) in the 6f maiden and the best bet of the day, FULL GAS (4.10, nap) in the first division of the racingtv.com Handicap over 7f.
The latter has improved on his last two runs, notably when running in first-time cheekpieces at Haydock last time, staying on well to finish runner-up to Flash Rascal. A return to this trip should suit.
SURPRISED (3.00) can create a shock in the 6f handicap at Carlisle.
He ran better than his place suggests last week at Catterick over the minimum trip and will be suited to a strong gallop.
