‘I fled Mormon church and obtained greatest revenge on those that known as me degrading’

Kit Barrus, 27, was raised in a Mormon household but walked away from the faith to forge her own path. She has since got the “best revenge” on those who called her “degrading”

We all have different upbringings, but one woman has recently shared her challenging experience of growing up in a Mormon household. Kit Barrus, hailing from California, was brought up as a Mormon but later abandoned the religion to lead a radically different life.

If you’re not familiar with Mormonism, it’s essentially a Restorationist Christian religious and theological movement that emerged in the 1820s and 1830s. The faith diverges from traditional Christianity through its belief in living prophets, additional sacred texts and the potential for humans to achieve godhood. However, despite being immersed in the faith during her upbringing, Kit soon began to realise that this lifestyle wasn’t for her.

Now she’s revealed how she completely transformed her life, and got “the best revenge” on those who doubted her along the way. She is someone who simply wanted to forge her own path, and she’s not the first person to do so either.

With over 300,000 followers on Instagram, Kit has now established herself by embarking on a risqué career. It’s something that has changed her life in more ways than one.

Kit, now 27, explained that her family is Mormon, and she grew up in the church, attending most days as a child. She confessed it was “really weird” when she was young, as not many people were raised in the same way where she lived at the time.

She was as young as eight-years-old when she realised this wasn’t the path she wanted to take in life. Her family allegedly wanted her to be baptised, but she admitted it didn’t go so well.

Kit told them she didn’t want to do it. She explained: “I remember having a big problem with the way women were treated in the Bible. I had a really big problem with the fact that there weren’t any very powerful women in the Bible.

“I didn’t like that women couldn’t be leaders really in the church. You can only be a leader over other women in the church. There are no positions where you’re really in charge of men.”

She acknowledged this was something that troubled her. Additionally, she claimed she was constantly taught that having children was the “best thing in life”, which is something she didn’t regard as true, as she didn’t see it as the most meaningful thing she could accomplish.

Kit had what she describes as an “ongoing fight” with her parents because she confessed she didn’t want much to do with the church. Her parents allegedly believed if she abandoned the church she would get into serious trouble, and essentially end up in “hell”. She said she was pressured to remain until she was around 19.

While she was desperate to break free, she acknowledges people do stereotype Mormonism incorrectly. “The marriages are really normal. We do have a lot of modesty standards put on us, especially when I was growing up. I think they’re a little looser now,” she added.

“You had to wear sleeves, like short sleeves at least. You couldn’t wear tank tops or anything like that. You couldn’t wear shorts.”

She actually ventured into making racy content after her online followers requested it, and it proved an “instant success” for her. In fact, she earned over $10,000 (£7,462.50) in her first month alone.

Since launching, Kit has worked tirelessly to build upon her success. Though people sometimes get the wrong impression about her profession, she says she couldn’t be happier.

Kit added: “I think people think that because I do [my job], I’m super promiscuous. I have a body count with men of less than 15, and I’m 27.

“I average about a man a year. I’m actually pretty selective with my body. If I get a sexually transmitted disease (STD) or anything like that, it could really ruin my life and ruin my ability to work in the future. I’m really careful with who I trust with my body. “

Most of her mates support her career, but others have walked away from her life because of it. Meanwhile, not everyone in her family knows about her new lifestyle, but those who do seem to approve.

“My little brother just doesn’t want to know about it, but he doesn’t care,” she added. Whatever people think though, she’s had the last laugh, as she can sometimes rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars within a single week.

Kit continued: “It feels really good to be earning that money, particularly because of the people who have chosen to leave my life because I made the choice to do this as a career.

“It feels like good revenge on those people who thought they were so much better than this choice. They thought like this choice was demeaning for them to be close to. It feels like good revenge on those people.”
