Dog ‘shoots’ girl after unintentionally firing shotgun from the seat of a choose up truck
Police were stunned to find that a dog was the ‘shooter’ after it somehow managed to trigger a loaded shotgun inside a vehicle outside a convenience store and injured a woman
A woman has been accidentally shot – with a dog discovered to be the “shooter”. Police reported the unusual incident after a pooch inside a vehicle managed to discharge a loaded shotgun outside a convenience store, injuring a woman who was stopped nearby in her car.
The incident happened on Saturday (May 23), in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, USA, shortly after midday, at a convenience store called “Short Stop”. The shooting was first thought to involve a BB gun, before officers were told a shotgun had been fired. Scottsbluff Police said they were called at about 12:07pm after an initial report that someone had been shot.
When officers arrived at the scene, they were directed to a truck with a camper attached and found damage to the passenger-side door panel consistent with a shotgun blast. Police said the vehicle’s owner had pulled into the store with a dog in the back seat.
The gun subsequently went off when the dog moved from one side of the vehicle to the other, triggering the weapon, KNOP News reported. The woman who was hit was not inside the store.
She was reportedly stopped at traffic lights when the shotgun fired, with her arm resting on an open window, and she was struck in the upper right arm. A family member drove her to Regional West Medical Center for treatment, and police did not believe her injuries were life-threatening.
This follows a more sinister shooting which saw a social media sensation brutally gunned down in the street, mirroring the tragic end her partner met three years prior. Francisca Roberta “Robertinha” de Jesus Silva was sat in a neighbour’s doorway on May 14 evening when two individuals pulled up on a motorbike.
Eyewitnesses report that she attempted to flee, but the assailants opened fire, letting off several shots. Robertinha, just 21, was hit in the head, leg and back, and tragically died at the scene in Coelho Neto, Brazil, the Daily Star previously reported. The culprits made a swift getaway after the shooting.
Police later tracked down one of the suspects, leading to a gunfight. He was shot and died at the scene.
He was reportedly already under investigation for involvement in other murders in the area.
A second suspect, aged 17 and believed to be the driver of the motorbike, is still on the run.
Robertinha was the partner of Fernando Rocha Alves, also known as Fernando Cigano, or “Fernando the Gypsy”.
