A&E physician stabbed a number of occasions at London hospital as man charged over assault
An A&E doctor in his 50s was stabbed multiple times while working a night shift at Hillingdon Hospital in west London. A man has been charged in connection with the alleged attack and has appeared in court.
A man has been charged in connection with the stabbing of an A&E doctor, who was attacked while working a night shift at a hospital in London.
The doctor, in his 50s, suffered multiple stab wounds during the incident at Hillingdon Hospital in west London. He received initial treatment from paramedics at the hospital in Pield Heath Road, before being transferred to a major trauma centre for further care.
The suspect, Mahdi Abdullahi, 27, of Pield Heath Road, Hillingdon, was apprehended by Metropolitan Police officers, who were already at the scene responding to a separate incident. Abdullahi was subsequently charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possessing an offensive weapon, and stealing knives.
He appeared before Uxbridge magistrates and was remanded in custody, with a scheduled reappearance at the same court on Friday, reports the Mirror.
A spokesperson for Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust stated that the trust is providing ongoing support and reassurance to its staff, emphasizing that any form of violence or aggression is unacceptable.
It comes after at least three people were stabbed at a train station after the suspected knifeman reportedly screamed ‘Allahu Akbar’.
A large police operation is underway at Winterthur train station in Switzerland on Thursday morning. An area of approximately 100 meters is cordoned off with barrier tape. The new station underpass is also closed. In addition to numerous police vehicles, paramedics are also on site.
An eyewitness who works opposite the cordoned-off area told this newsroom that a middle-aged man shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is greater) and stabbed four men with a knife. A school class was passing by the scene at the time, reports tagesanzeiger.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The area around the entrance to the main building housing the SBB travel agency is cordoned off. The cantonal police secured and photographed items there that are suspected of being related to the crime.
