Champions League remaining halted as star goes down injured after nasty kick to move

The Champions League final between Arsenal and PSG was halted for several minutes as a star received treatment after going down injured having suffered a nasty kick to the head

The Champions League final between Arsenal and PSG was halted for several minutes after a star suffered a nasty kick to the head.

Arsenal’s date with destiny in Budapest was stopped in the 27th minute after PSG stopper Matvey Safonov took a blow to the back of his head as he bravely came out to clear a low cross.

The Gunners lead 1-0 thanks to Kai Havertz’s strike after four minutes and Safonov had to be on hand to deny Leandro Trossard a tap in to double the lead and put Mikel Arteta’s side in dreamland.

Safonov stayed down holding his head as the game was stopped and was quickly tended to by PSG’s medical staff. His knock was treated with an ice pack to contain the swelling before he returned to his feet and was able to continue.

The game was restarted three minutes later with Safonov still continuing in goal.
