Jose Mourinho ‘introduced’ as subsequent Real Madrid supervisor in Florentino Perez election video
Football legend Jose Mourinho’s shock return to Real Madrid has taken a step closer after President Florentino Perez announced the Special One in his election campaign video
Jose Mourinho has been officially announced as the new Real Madrid manager by President Florentino Perez, but that could still change.
Perez made the announcement as part of his election campaign video but it will only happen if he wins re-election on June 7, leaving the Special One in limbo.
The video was shared on the Perez 2026 social media page on X with a video of Mourinho in Real Madrid’s training kit.
Alongside the video campaign. the words “so much history to make” were posted. Perez will go head to head with Enrique Riquelme for the Real Madrid presidency.
According to reports in Spain, Perez was reportedly playing mind games with his rival for presidency by posting the announcement as Riquelme was appealing on a talk show.
Riquelme, who was clearly been made aware of the video, slammed Perez and his decision to appoint Mourinho if re-elected. He declared that he would bring in a “superstar manager”.
Speaking on Spanish TV, Riquelme said: “If I win the elections, I will bring to Real Madrid a superstar manager. The biggest manager you can imagine”.
“José Mourinho is not our manager. We will get the one all Real Madrid fans really want”.
Riquelme also dropped a major declaration of intent in his campaign by stating Manchester City star and Ballon d’Or winner Rodri “will become a Real Madrid player” if he is elected.
