Brit ‘spiked and robbed of £1,800 by girl in Bali’ as he is left needing 16 head stitches
WARNING, GRAPHIC CONTENT: Jamie Lathan, 36, from England, claims he was assaulted and robbed of £1,800 while travelling alone in Bali after allegedly having his drink spiked by a woman at a nightclub
A British holidaymaker has alleged he was drugged, assaulted and robbed of £1,800 while on a solo trip in Bali.
Jamie Lathan recounted the horrifying experience, which he says took place after an evening at a nightclub. The 36-year-old rigger, from England, claims he met an Indonesian woman who bought him several drinks before he started to feel unwell.
Jamie suspects his drinks were tampered with prior to being attacked. He said he was hit from the side before being led outside, where he alleges others were waiting. Jamie asserts that the woman then convinced him to hop on the back of a motorbike and escorted him home, as reported by Need To Know.
“I was falling asleep on the bike,” he said. “When we got back to mine, I woke up fully clothed.” Jamie alleges that £1,800 (€2,000) had been stolen from his bag.
He estimates that approximately four hours elapsed before he completely lost consciousness. When he finally came round, he said he felt disoriented and sick.
“It was the worst feeling of my life knowing I was on my own and couldn’t do anything because I’d been spiked,” he said.
The incident took place on May 9. Jamie sought medical attention the following day.
The assault left him with two head injuries requiring 16 stitches in one wound and a further seven stitches above his eyebrow.
Jamie said he did not report the incident to the police but returned to the nightclub the next day in an attempt to obtain CCTV footage.
He claims the staff declined to provide it and said his hotel receptionist tried to assist, but he has received no response since.
“I’ve heard nothing from anyone, not even a sorry,” he said. The incident occurred at La Covida nightclub in Denpasar, Bali.
Jamie says the experience has impacted his confidence when travelling solo. “It affected me travelling on my own,” he added.
He said his family and friends back home were left deeply concerned after hearing about what had transpired during his solo journey.
