Police swarm UK avenue as two air ambulances land with a 3rd ‘on the way in which’

Two air ambulances have landed in the area following unconfirmed reports of a stabbing at Longton Tesco – with a third air ambulance reportedly on its way to the incident

Emergency services have rushed to a Stoke-on-Trent street. Images from the location reveal multiple police vehicles and ambulances stationed on The Strand, in Longton.

Police confirmed they were called to a “fight involving weapons”, with youths reportedly armed with metal bars and baseball bats. Officers have closed The Strand.

It comes as air ambulances have landed off Kendrick Street and Forrister Street this lunchtime. The alarm was raised at 11.45am today. A third one is said to be on the way. A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “We are responding to a report of a fight involving weapons and have closed The Strand while we investigate.

“Officers were called following a report of a large group of people fighting in the area. Some of the men were described as holding metal bars and baseball bats. A cordon has been put in place and we’re advising people to avoid the area.”

One person reported: “Something has happened in Longton. The Strand is shut off and an air ambulance has just landed.”

There are also unverified reports of a stabbing at Longton Tesco. Another unconfirmed account suggests there has been a double stabbing.

The Sentinel was notified of the police operation at 12.12pm this afternoon. Any witnesses can contact the police on 101.
