It comes after a 46-year-old solicitor tragically died after the 4×4 vehicle she was travelling in rolled over during a once-in-a-lifetime safari adventure. Meire Aparecida de Amorim was inside a Toyota Land Cruiser alongside five other international tourists at approximately midday on Friday, May 29.
Her brother revealed that the driveshaft had worked loose and became embedded in the terrain, prompting the motorist to lose command of the vehicle and veer off course. Meire – who hailed from Presidente Olegário, Brazil – sustained severe injuries during the ensuing rollover incident.
She perished at the location on Namibia’s C14 gravel track, situated between Sesriem and Walvis Bay, roughly 110km (68 miles) from the coastal destination they were heading towards.
The remaining passengers suffered “minor to moderate” wounds and were transported to a private medical facility in Walvis Bay for care. Meire worked as a solicitor for financial institution Caixa Econômica Federal and resided in Brasília.
Her relatives are currently organising the process to bring her remains back to Brazil, where she will be interred in her birthplace.
